We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Wedding Hive’s “An Enchanted Wedding” bridal show last Thursday evening. The turnout was tremendous! It was very nice meeting everybody we talked to, from brides and couples to other wedding vendors. The Hive did an amazing job setting everything up. It’s just how a bridal show should be done, if creative minds are allowed the freedom to explore all the possibilities.
I have to say, this group of creative professionals really excites me at where weddings in Kansas City could be heading in the future. If the Hive flourishes, KC is going to have some of the most beautiful weddings you’ve ever seen.
I was mostly mingling, but I did manage to get a few pictures.

Erica and I took Sally and Eli down to Union Station for their engagement portraits. It was a very, very cold day, so the warm and visually interesting environment was very welcome. Sally and Eli were great to work with, and open to all of our ideas – even some that were slightly unusual for an engagement session.
Sally & Eli really wanted to take photos here, after seeing the “Baggage” sign. I thought about this for a few seconds, before coming up with the “rolling suitcase” idea you see here. Everybody had a really hard time keeping a straight face through this part of the shoot.

Did you just get engaged? Well congratulations! We have another proposal for you.
We’re looking for brides and/or couples who are newly engaged and have just started their journey of planning their wedding.
Do you blog or otherwise like to write?
If so, and you’d like to write for the Sparrow Photography blog as a guest blogger about your wedding planning experiences: the ups and downs, the frustrating and the funny, the insanity or the sweet way the things fall into place by themselves sometimes, drop us a line.
We’d like to make you a deal! How does a handsome discount on wedding photography sound? Like, a discount of 100%? In exchange for blog entries every 1-2 weeks (we like to write too and don’t want your entries to get too buried!), pictures when you can, and stories from the trenches of planning a wedding, we will rock out your wedding for FREE!
Just to clarify, this is NOT your average contest with a picked-from-a-hat winner! We’re looking for four couples, one from each season: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Most importantly, we’re looking for couples that share our eclectic style, appreciation for randomness and shiny things and oh yes, blogging.
Interested?

The Nelson, photographed in warmer days, in all its glory. It’s a favorite location among clients for portraits of all kinds. Isn’t this place amazing?

One of my very favorite things. When my parents decided to open a bookstore, we all went through barista training at the Roasterie. It’s a lot harder than it looks to make a great latte. But, the process is fun and you learn a lot! It’s the perfect mix of chemistry and artistry.

Pull that shot! Nom nom:

The result?
