Lizzi’s dad said it perfectly when making his toast at the reception. He said that something they really wanted of their day was for people to have fun. I certainly had a great time! Thank you Lizzi & David. Best wishes to you as you begin your life together.

We had quite an eventful vacation. Three hours into our twelve hour trip to our first destination, Cheyenne WY, we hit a HUGE deer and totalled our minivan. That wasn’t cool, especially since we were in cornfield central, Nebraska.
It had been easy to get distracted in the craziness of preparing, of packing, of getting on the road on time. But the night of the accident, as I was on the side of the highway pulling a change of clothes out of our huge suitcase (which wouldn’t fit in the cop’s car who was kind enough to drive us to a hotel), I realized quickly that it was all just stuff. None of it mattered. My precious children were safe, my husband was shaken but ok, and the van would be towed off and dealt with. WE were all we had that evening.
Making lemonade from life’s lemons wasn’t too difficult. The fact that we were still together, unharmed, was the best part of our trip. The next morning we decided to rent a vehicle, let things sort themselves out with the insurance & the van, and embarked on the remaining 8 hour drive to Cheyenne.
We stayed in Cheyenne with Scott’s parents who were delighted to see us. Their home is beautiful and comfortable, and they couldn’t wait to show us some amazing national parks. We’ll go to Estes Park another time. But here’s what we did experience.

Not much is more adorable than seeing your six year old catch her first trout!

Our oldest, who turns 8 (going on 18) tomorrow.

We’re off to the mountains to recharge our creativeness. Oh and visit the in-laws and hang out in a cabin, teach our children to fish, and drive through Estes Park in Colorado.

Email and phone access may not exist where we’ll be. I checked and there is NO 3g network so my iPhone just won’t be as useful out there.
Rest assured any calls or emails will be returned when we’re back. Expect a return call or email on Monday, July 27th if you’ve been in touch.

April first 2009 was a day that Randy & Stephanie McCleary will always remember. After many many weeks of hospital bedrest at KU, their four wonderful children entered this world. It hasn’t been an easy three months as they’re finally home from the nicu so that transition is still taking place, but the joy that these new parents feel is certainly contagious. I can’t help but smile when working with these images.
Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your family’s memories.
